One paper calculates that a quantum attack on Bitcoin mining via quantum mining would require the energy output of an entire star, rendering it practically impossible. Another paper replicates major quantum factoring breakthroughs using just a 1981 home computer and a dog, questioning the hype around quantum advancements.
