By Terence Zimwara
South Korean crypto exchange Bithumb has filed a lawsuit seeking court-ordered seizure of assets to recover unreturned Bitcoin from a massive clerical error where it mistakenly sent 620,000 BTC worth $44 billion to users on February 6, 2026. The blunder prompted an inspection by the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) to strengthen virtual asset protection laws and controls. Bithumb is pursuing legal action against users who failed to return the funds.
