The New York Times conducted a year-long investigation building a circumstantial case that British cryptographer Adam Back, 55, is Bitcoin's pseudonymous creator Satoshi Nakamoto. However, the evidence falls well short of definitive proof. Satoshi Nakamoto's true identity remains unidentified as of the April 8, 2026 report.
