Attacker mints $1 billion Polkadot tokens on Ethereum, ends up stealing just $250,000

An attacker forged a cross-chain message that bypassed state proof validation on a bridge contract, gaining admin control over bridged DOT tokens on Ethereum. This enabled the minting of approximately $1 billion worth of DOT tokens, which were then dumped, netting the attacker just $237,000 due to low liquidity. The exploit exposes vulnerabilities in cross-chain bridge mechanisms.
