Paquistão libera bancos para atender empresas de criptomoedas após 7 anos de proibição
By Rodrigo Tolotti
Pakistan's central bank has ended a seven-year ban by allowing banks to provide services to licensed cryptocurrency companies under the new 2026 Virtual Assets Law, which establishes a local regulator. Banks can open segregated local currency accounts for VASPs like exchanges but are barred from investing, trading, or holding crypto assets themselves. This supports Pakistan's crypto sector, where 40 million people (17% of the population) are active, amid plans for Bitcoin mining and blockchain tokenization.
